Tezuka was often forced to make compromises when serializing in magazines because of the publication schedule and page restrictions. Tezuka often spoke that he intended the Complete Works to be the deﬁnitive versions of his works. Most of the works I discuss in this book refer to the Complete Works version, with a few exceptions. Comparing diﬀerent versions of Tezuka’s work would make a compelling study, but it is out of scope for this book in most cases.
