This present day, radar in a single shape or one other is probably going to show up in every single place: on the street, on the waterfront, in an underground motor-road. by means of some distance the widest use of radar is made through the army and scientists. In all of those fields hundreds of thousands upon millions of radar units are at paintings. a few of them are sufficiently small to be equipped into spectacles, others weigh 1000s of plenty.

The most important standards are the Gen2 Air Interface Protocol for operation in a frequency range from 860 MHz to 960 MHz, and the corresponding Gen2 standard for the HF interface. Alongside these two standards, many data and network standards exist which are becoming more and more important. 4 Business Models of Standardisation Organisations Each of these different organisations has its own financing and business model. The most usual ways of funding are: • • • • • Membership fees Grants Revenue from assets Fees for the use of identification numbers Selling of standards ISO funding is based on subscriptions, which are paid by the national members.

With it, the competence for data security lies in the hands of the respective domain holder. It is obvious that by using this methodology there is a potential risk that highly sensitive information on products, involved companies or even individuals can be found. Another threat is that root data or product data is being faked for criminal reasons. Therefore proper security measures have to be arranged, in addition to ONS, in order to ensure privacy. One of the most popular options would be to set up VPN (Virtual Private Network) connections between companies which are involved in data exchange.

Recommendation: Support the development of royalty-free standards A further point that should be discussed is the influence of IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) on standardisation. The influence of IPR on existing and future standards should be minimised. It should be ensured that the most relevant standards are free from any royalty payments. Only in this way is the market able to develop freely and without any hindrances. Currently, many standardised technologies and procedures are owned by individuals through intellectual property rights.
