Examines the lifetime of the Polish-born scientist who, along with her husband Pierre, used to be provided a 1903 Nobel Prize for locating radium.
New PDF release: Radar Made Easy
At the present time, radar in a single shape or one other is probably going to show up far and wide: on the street, on the waterfront, in an underground motor-road. by way of a long way the widest use of radar is made by means of the army and scientists. In all of those fields millions upon hundreds of thousands of radar units are at paintings. a few of them are sufficiently small to be geared up into spectacles, others weigh 1000s of lots.

Median of Difference of Radiation Levels Over Background for Equipment in Production Facilities (µrem/hr). (API, 1989) For gas processing facilities (Figure 32), the highest medians were found on reflux pumps in gas fractionators. This median was 76 µrem/hr with a 75th percentile of 291 µrem/hr. If activity approaches the limits described above, the area should be posted and access limited to informed personnel. The internal activity of equipment will be about five times that measured through a steel wall. If such equipment is to be opened or dismantled, it should be checked with a Geiger counter to determine if surface activities exceed limits for inhalation. If activity exceeds established limits, the equipment should be entered only by trained personnel wearing protective clothing. The process equipment will require decontamination prior to reassembly by mechanics.
